“Good.” Belinda exchanged a glance with Lucas before saying, “Grandma, you should head to bed soon. Lucas and I are going upstairs.”
“Alright, go ahead,” Kenia said, waving them off.
“I will sleep right after finishing this episode.”
Without another word, Belinda led the way upstairs with Lucas following close behind.
Inside their room, Lucas finally broke his silence.
“I arranged for someone to monitor Sarai’s phone. Not that the person she is in contact with is likely to contact her on that number… still, both caregivers assigned to her are my people. They will watch her around the clock, and if anything strange happens, they will report it to Gordon immediately.”
Belinda gave a short nod.
“Okay.”
She paused, then added with a thoughtful frown, “Let’s see how long she can keep up the act before showing her true colors.”
Lucas crossed the room, fetched a glass of water, and handed it to her. She accepted it, took a small sip, then spoke casually.
“By the way, Kylee visited me today. She wanted me to stay away from Elwood and Carola.” A cold laugh slipped from her lips.
Lucas chuckled.
“Of course she did. Kylee knows her birth parents have a soft spot for you. It makes her feel threatened.”
Belinda’s gaze sharpened at that, her eyes narrowing slightly.
“I tested her today. I asked if she was certain Elwood and Carola are really her biological parents. She got visibly tense, looking very uneasy. Now, I cannot help but suspect that something is off about her parentage.”
Hearing that, Lucas fell silent for a few seconds, lost in thought.

“Whatever her issues are, they are not our burden. Still, when you and Nalani meet up for that meal, you might want to tell her about this.

“Ah, I understand now.” Belinda’s features brightened with sudden comprehension, her head bobbing in acknowledgment.
