“Hello, Mr. Wright.”
Elwood’s voice crackled through, steady but tinged with concern. “Kylee, how is your mother holding up?”
A faint smile curved Kylee’s lips. “She’s doing much better. The doctor says today’s final IV will wrap things up. I appreciate your concern, Mr. Wright.”
Silence stretched for a moment. After about ten seconds, Elwood spoke again, his tone cautious. “I have a bold favor to ask.”
He exhaled audibly before continuing. “Would it be permissible for me to visit your mother at the hospital? I would like to speak with her.”
Kylee’s eyes widened, her pupils narrowing as surprise rippled through her. To be honest, she hadn’t expected Elwood to ask to see Carola so soon. Of course, she was more than pleased with this.
However…
“I have no issue with you visiting my mother,” Kylee said, her voice soft but hesitant. “But it’s hard for me to explain this to her.”
Elwood paused, then offered a solution, his words measured. “Simply share the address. I can make it seem like a coincidence.”
Kylee weighed the idea. After a brief moment, she replied, “All right, I will send you the address.”
“Thank you,” he replied.
After ending the call, Kylee sent Elwood the hospital’s details and slipped back into Carola’s hospital room.
Carola’s eyes remained fixed on the IV, her expression unchanged, not asking Kylee anything about the call.
Kylee settled into her chair, her thoughts swirling.
After some time, the door to the room opened. A tall figure stepped inside, his presence commanding the room. Elwood’s eyes locked onto Carola as soon as he walked in.

Carola sensed the stare, her head lifting slowly. When her gaze met Elwood’s refined features, her breath faltered. Her pupils shrank, shock etching lines across her face. She had never expected to see Elwood here.

Just then, Kylee stood up, feigning surprise. “Oh? Mr. Wright? What brings you—”
Carola’s head whipped toward her daughter, eyes wide with disbelief. They knew each other? The realization crashed over her, stirring a storm of panic.
Elwood tore his gaze from Carola, turning to Kylee with a practiced calm. “I was looking for a friend. He mentioned SVIP Room 2.”
Kylee tilted her head, playing along. “Oh, this is Room 3. You must have entered the wrong room.”
“Apologies,” Elwood said, yet he made no move to leave. Instead, he began walking toward them.
