Belinda immediately straightened and turned to face him directly. “You’re wrong about that. Besides, we still don’t have proof that Faye pushed me down that hill. This has nothing to do with you.”
She cradled his strong jawline between her palms, speaking with deliberate emphasis. “Lucas, don’t let these thoughts consume you.”
Lucas exhaled heavily, the sound carrying his deepest fears. “I’m hoping Faye has nothing to do with any of this.”
Belinda offered no further words of comfort. Instead, she wound her arms around his neck and pressed close against him.
Lucas tightened his hold around her waist, and they both remained silent, each lost in their own thoughts.
The next morning marked the day scheduled for Elwood’s hypnosis session.
Early in the morning, Elwood prepared himself and ventured alone to his psychologist, Dr. Brooks, at a private clinic nestled within the bustling heart of Owathe.
“Mr. Wright, you’ve arrived.” Dr. Brooks welcomed Elwood at the entrance, his voice carrying a professional warmth.
Once they stepped inside the elevator, Dr. Brooks asked, “How have matters progressed these past few days? Have you encountered any headaches again?”
Elwood parted his lips with deliberate slowness, his voice steady as he stated, “Since beginning the medication, the headaches have vanished completely. However, I’ve found myself dreaming about the same woman lately…”

Yet strangely enough, throughout each dream, I can never see her face clearly. No matter how desperately I strain to see, her features remain shrouded in an impenetrable blur.”
As these words left his lips, a shadow of frustration began to creep across his features.
After absorbing this information, Dr. Brooks fell into contemplative silence. From Elwood’s current state, it appeared his buried memories were genuinely beginning to surface.
