“I just can’t wrap my head around it,” Bethany muttered, shaking her head. She couldn’t comprehend how Baker and Holley could treat their own daughter that way.
“Some people are born cold, or they’re just very selfish,” Vincent said after a moment of silence.

After dinner, the group began gathering their things, preparing to leave the restaurant.
